3 Of The Best Spots in San Fransico for a Weekend Trip on a College Budget

Everyone is going a little crazy with the pandemic even though I am personally not traveling let me tell you about the most fun place I've gone on a road trip. San Fransisco is the perfect place full of culture and attractions guaranteed to give you Instagram-worthy pictures. It is one of the most eclectic cities in the United States. San Francisco is home to free spirits, one of the original places that started being a hub for gay culture, trendy millennials, a Golden (red) bridge, and a Haunted Prison (Alcatraz). Aside from the delicious Chinese food, seafood, and fun food fusion, San Fransisco is one of my favorite places to visit. It’s perfect for an inexpensive three-day weekend with the girls on a broke college girl budget.

#1 Visit Pier39:

This area is right on the waterfront it goes on for blocks and is easily one of the most popular tourist destinations in the city. There are street performers, souvenir shops, boutiques, and small eateries. One eatery I highly recommend is DOUGHP, this is an ice cream parlor style vegan cookie dough shop that has so many flavors of cookie dough to try. My personal favorite is Cookie Monster which is bright blue and along with their aesthetic makes for an instagrammable picture people will ask you where you trust me! Being a vegan eatery and the placement on the pier for only $6 a cup you get your money’s worth and a view of the water.

The Palace of Fine Arts is a Roman-style relic of the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition. The outdoor rotunda and its moat are one of San Fransisco’s most photographed sights. This attraction is a quiet, peaceful place that is a great change in scenery from the more tourist-focused attractions. It’s a great place to bond a real social destination, where you and your friends can play Jumbo Jenga, ping pong, and more. You could even have a very cute picnic by the waterfront. It's a free location and is such a good place to decompress and get away from it all! There are also constant events taking place here. Check their website for more details.

#3 Enjoy a Meal at Cracked & Battered Potrero Hill

This a really popular brunch stop and a really good last place to visit before you hit the road. They have kombucha on draft and it is a quaint family restaurant with famous halal style fried chicken setting themselves apart from other brunch spots. Cracked & Battered bring a unique cultural element to brunch. You are sure to find something you like from their eclectic menu. The portion sizes are pretty hefty and the food will definitely fill you up but you might need a nap after. The atmosphere makes you feel at home the decor. is very simple and is well done. You really get a feeling that its a family restaurant and the hospitality is spectacular. I definitely recommend going here and grabbing an intimate brunch with your friends.
